October 21/22, 2023
This past weekend, Didi her first scentwork trial other than at the Specialty.
She went 0 for 3 in Containers. She did search for a bit and then decided that it would be more fun to play to the spectators.
She stood there wagging her tail and even standing up on her back legs. Of course, everyone thought she was adorable.
As for her second class this weekend, Interiors, she went
3 for 3 and earned her SIN (scentwork interior novice).
I guess she found the multiple articles more interesting than white cardboard mailers.

Canine Good Citizen indeed - Friday July 1st, 2022
Didi earned another title yesterday.
I had a private obedience lesson with her trainer because she just couldn't grasp the whole idea of what a
stay was about. (I was almost to the point of using gorilla glue on her
butt LOL).
Well, we were finishing up and we did have some success
to have her advance and the trainer asked me if I wanted to take the
CGC test with her as after our lesson, she was going to put a couple
people thru the test.
I really didn't think she was quite ready, the
trainer thought she would be so we stayed to take the test.
There were two other dogs: border collie and aussie. The border collie
was a border collie (LOL), the Aussie was losing his mind; which was
strange as he has been in class with Didi and he was doing very well.
Anyway, the other dogs went and then Didi. Her heeling was
remarkable being it was the first time she heeled without using
treats for a reward. I started thinking that maybe this was possible.
She did everything else and then comes the stays and the recall.
She actually stayed in position for both exercises and passed her
CGC!
All I can say, didi is certainly a trip. She will amaze me when I
least expect it.

Doing it her way, Carolina Terrier Association ED Tests, Graham, NC - April 16-17,2022
Didi (I do things my way!) earned her NE title (AKC Novice Earthdog) this
past weekend. Didi definitely marches to her own drummer. We had practice last
weekend. I ran her once on Sat. and once on Sun. Both runs were truly fantastic. 3-4
seconds to rats and working the rats was out of sight. It can be difficult trying to get
her to release the dowels on which she has a death grip. I have quite an extensive
collection of chewed thru dowels LOL
Well at the test this past weekend, they had 4 tests (2 sat. and 2 on sun.) I took her down for the first test, she is excited because
she has been in those tunnel before. I take her in, her judge was the person who ran
the practice the weekend before; Didi approached the tunnel, stopped, and proceeded
to sniff the entrance. Then decided to take the gourmet tour of the area; eating whatever
greens were abounding. At the 2 min. mark she went out the "gate" and was eating
outside greens. Since time was called I went toward her so she wouldn't take off and
explore all the farm grounds. As I approached her, she looked at me and ran back into
the ring, straight into the tunnel and worked the rats. Judge said I'm sorry.
We go back
to the car to await the pm test. She then proceeded to throw up the greens in her
crate (as expected). PM test approaches, took her down to the tunnel so she could
hear the IQ dogs and hopefully get inspired to do her job. We go in for the test, she
approaches the tunnel stops and smells, makes a right turn and heads to the exit.
This time someone has brought down a piece of plywood to place at the entrance,
which I placed at the opening. She looks at the wood, figures she can't get out,
runs over to the tunnel, runs in, almost knocks the judge (Christie Murphy) off the end of the tunnel
(which she usually does) and works the rats. Yea! she qualifies.
We return on Sunday. Take her down to tunnel so she can hear the IQ dogs, she is
really excited. Repeats Saturday morning's escapades (except not running outside
the "ring". Thank you plywood. Grazes, two minutes up, run into tunnel, works
rats, almost knocks the lid off the tunnel. Sorry. Go back to car to await the PM
test, dog throws up greens she ate, it is getting very warm outside.
At 1:30 we go
down to tunnel for her to get excited with barking dogs, I took a bottle of water
with me to keep her muzzle wet, she is ready to go. We go in, release her, she
inspects the exit, plywood is still there, runs into the tunnel, works rats, knocks
judge (Marian Shaw) off the tunnel, have to wait to get her to release the dowels.
Yea, she qualifies.
Maybe she just likes to work in the afternoon, or she needs
to throw up greens, or she just likes to mess with me. Go home on cloud 9,
fall asleep, and wake up this morning with extremely red cheeks and nose. It's
a small price to pay LOL.
