Garden State Terrier Rally & Obedience trials, Wrightstown, PA - October 02, 2013

Bindi celebrated William's birthday by earning her 2nd Rally Novice leg with a very respectable 95

Yep, Canadian

Bindi completed her CKC Companion Dog Title with a return visit to the the Thousand Islands Kennel and Obedience Club show and trials in Brockville, Ontario on August 18th, 2012.
She qualified in both Novice B trials with scores of 181 1/2 and 186.

Canadian Eh!!!!

Bindi crossed the world's longest undefended border to attend the Thousand Island Kennel and Obedience club trials in Brockville, ON Canada on August 20th and 22st, 2011.
She qualified in 2 out of 4 trials that weekend, taking a 4th place (score 185) and a 3rd place (188).
Considering that she also held her 'down' stay (albeit, rolling her eyes!) while my friend's rambunctious, young Chessie, jumped up, ran around the ring, barking and eluding her handler and the judge for about 45 seconds, I would say we had a pretty successful weekend!

Mastering another venue

Bindi completed her AKC Master Earthdog Title going two for two at the New Jersey Beanfield Earthdog Club fall tests in Crosswicks, NJ. November 6-7, 2010. Judges were Richard Reynolds and Ron Sebastiani respectively

October 2010 was a very good month

At the Airdale Terrier Rally Trial in Kimberton, Bindi earned her 1st Rally Novice leg and a score of 195.

At the Hatboro Kennel Club Trial, Bindi completed her AKC-CDX title with a score of 183 in Open A. The following day at the Delaware Valley German Shepherd Club All Breed Obedience Trial in Horsham, PA, Bindi qualified and placed FIRST in Open A.

Then on to UKC Obedience. On 10/31, Bindi and Kathy were in 2 Open A trials. In the morning trial, Bindi once again amused the crowd by ending her Finish standing in heel position, but facing backwards! Her score was 179 but it gave here that elusive U-CDX Leg # 3 . There were only 2 qualifiers out of 11 entries and she took 2nd Place! (the 1st place dog had a score of 196! Wow!) In the afternoon trial, there were 3 qualifiers out of 12 entries. Bindi took 3rd Place with a very respectable 189 1/2.

That Elusive Second Leg

From Kathy

"Bindi and I competed in Open B at the Oriole Dog Training Club in Baltimore, MD (September 5, 2010, judge Mr. Theodore A. Walshesky). We entered in the B class because when I thought about entering (translation: talked into entering because my friend was entered in Utility and wanted company!!) , all the A slots were full.
We scored a very respectable 186!! Bindi lost points for heeling that was not very good and Fronts and Finishes. Quite frankly, after NQing in 10 trials last year, I WAS DELIGHTED!!!!!!!
She tried hard, worked with a wagging tail and looked happy to be doing what we were doing. I really don't need anything more than that. "

2009 BTCA Specialty Achievements - September 27-October 01, 2009 - Centreville, MD

Bindi was the only qualifier out of 8 dogs in Open A Obedience under judge Janet Lewis.

This of course gave her first place with a score of 186.5

Bindi also had "fun" in Earthdog

Back to Obedience

Bindi qualified in the Oakes St. Huberts Sports Dog Program obedience trial on April 19, 2009. This was her first leg in a St. Huberts trial. Per Kathy:

She qualified in the a.m. trial, took 4th place with a 194. (of course, she was surpassed by a blind collie and a 3-legged poodle/bichon!! too much!!!) Bindi, Bindi, Bindi!!!

Half way there

That's right! Bindi earned her second Master Earthdog leg at the NJBEC AKC ED Test on November 01, 2008 in Crosswicks NJ under judge Judy Todd.

Leading the litter

Bindi and her siblings, Colin and Hazel have been "neck and neck" for most of their Earthdog careers, but Bindi stepped out in front at the Scottish Terrier Club of America ED test in Crosswicks NJ on October 06, 2008.
In Kathy's words:
Bindi had a wonderful, wonderful Master run. Her bracemate was a male Westie named 'Fox'. I have to say that she worked with such precision, focus and attitude, I was swelling with pride!!
She earned her fist Master leg.
Bindi got to the tunnel first and was allowed to work first - but the steward forgot to remove the bars in the front of the tunnel (I saw them just as I released Bindi).
I had to call her out and pick her up - but she didn't seem deterred. She went through the tunnel faster than ever - I don't know how quickly, but it was only seconds before she was at the rats, shrieking her rat cry! It was awesome!!!

The Master Judge was Robert Gann

Busy is an understatement

On July 21st, at the Hilltown Dog Training Club UKC Obedience Trial, Bindi scored a 189 1/2 for her 2nd U-CD leg. The following day, July 22nd, Bindi scored a 191 1/2 and attained her UKC CD!!

Her 3rd SE leg and title was achieved under Judge Brenda Weintraub at the Dachshund Club of New Jersey Test on June 30, 2007 at Crosswicks, NJ! Bindi made it to the rats in 10 seconds and her recall from the den was also 10 seconds. We were especially happy that Bindi's co-owner, my husband, William, was present to see her SE swan song and he was as proud as he could be (now that he fully understands the concept of earthdog!!)

On Sunday, June 10th, Bindi passed her AKC CGC test. She did very well with all the elements of the test.

"If you could read my mind......"

Thanks to intuitive guidance from breeder JoAnn and implicit trust from Kathy, Bindi was mentored through her recall problems into earning the first two legs towards her AKC Senior Earthdog title at the New Jersey Beanfield Earthdog Club and Northeast Border Terrier Club ED tests in Crosswicks NJ on June 2, 2007 and June 3, 2007 respectively. (Judges Jean Clark and Blue Sandrock).

You win some and you...............

In Kathy's words:

"Bindi earned her first UKC - CD leg on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at the Hilltown Dog Club UKC Trial. Her score was 176 - seems her major problems are still heeling related. UKC is different than AKC in that there is a jump involved and also there is 'honoring' in a 'down-stay' in place in the ring while the next dog does its heeling and Figure 8 exercises. This was totally new for Bindi (we have never trained for this) and she did great. We still are trying for those high scores, but more importantly, I like to see her enjoying what she does. "

As for Bindi's performance the following day...........
let's just say we will be watching the 2007 Eddie Award outcome with interest!

This brag will benefit Delaware Valley Pug Club/Rescue in memory of Bindi's little pal, Olive, who died of cardiac arrest on 2007-03-15.

As easy as "one, two, three......."

...or at least that is how Bindi made it look.

Bindi made her Novice A Obedience debut at the Echo Hills Kennel Club Shows (BTCA Supported Entry) on June 3rd & 4th, 2006. She qualified both days with a fourth place finish on Saturday and a first place finish on the Sunday. In addition, she was the Highest Scoring Border both days and the ONLY dog to qualify in Novice A on the Sunday. She then finished her CD Title in style with a second place finish at the BTCA National Specialty on Monday, June 5th, 2006

FLASH!
Turns out that in reading a 2007 issue of Front and Finish magazine, according to AKC scores, Bindi was listed as being 'ranked' as the # 3 Obedience Border Terrier to compete in Novice "A" in 2006!!

Another Earthdog Success

Having warmed up with AWTA, Bindi was ready for the "big league" and earned her AKC Junior Earthdog title by qualifying at the Dachshund Club of New Jersey Tests on July 2nd and 3rd, 2005 under judges Teddy Moritz and Carrie Hamilton.

Making it count on Memorial Day

Yep, Bindi was yet another Scrimmage pup to don her working togs and get down and dirty to earn her Certificate of Gameness at the North American Teckel Club's AWTA Trial in Crosswicks, NJ on May 30, 2005. Judge was Carrie Hamilton.
