Border Terrier Club of America Specialty, Purina Farms, Gray Summit, MO - May 18-22, 2014

May 20th, Tuesday -- Obedience/Rally/Sweepstakes

Pip earned his second Rally Novice B leg with a respectable 95 (Judge Ginger Kinion)

2013 BTCA National Specialty Achievements (June 23-27, Warwick, Rhode Island)

To say that it was hot at this year's Specialty is an understatemnt, however, Pip had fun running in Junior at the Specialty Earthdog Test on the Sunday.
But "after the Lord Mayor's Show" as the saying goes, came Tuesday...
I had persuaded Michele to let me handle Pip in Rally Novice B and we weren't doing bad until we turned towards the ring exit (and shade) then it literally took every trick I could think of to persuade Pip to do the last few exercises.
Thankfully, Michele's excellent training prevailed and we squeaked through with a very kind hearted 84 from judge Tibby Chase for his first leg.

Of Course He's a Good Citizen

We are very proud to announce that Pip passed the Canine Good Citizen test this evening (January 27, 2011).

From Michele

We signed up for a three week course that ended in the test. Pip did very well. We are especially impressed that he went the entire hour of the test without being treated. Our instructor/evaluator set the test up so that the various sections of the test were being done with all eight of the dogs throughout the hour. Each dog had something to do the entire time even if it was just waiting with their handler.

He's a "Master of his Trade"

What a guy!!! Pip went three for three to finish his AKC Master Earthdog Title at the Parson Russell Assn. of America and Scottish Terrier Club of NE Tests on October 16-17, 2010 in Harwinton CT
Judges were Duane Pulford, Carol Mock and Brenda Weintraub

He's a "Quarter-Master"

Pip turned in a very nice performance under Carrie Hamilton to earn his ME leg at the Greater Boston Area Earthdog Club Tests on August 14-15, 2010

2010 BTCA National Specialty Successes - Tryon NC - May 12-16

After causing must frustration with his innovative approach to the AKC Senior Test, Pip finished his title the best way possible with a qualifying run at the National Specialty Earthdog Test under hunting judge, Camilla Moon

A "Sunny" Outing

Pip's creative non-qualifying senior runs through the 2009 Season were banished on a beautiful fall day in Harwinton CT on October 11, 2009.

In Michele's words

Mark felt like an outing today and so since I had already entered Pip for two SE runs at the Scottish Terrier Club Test we decided to go.

They serve a great lunch included with your entry. Mark enjoyed both the food and the beautiful fall day. Daisy also enjoyed herself.

Jean Clark was our judge in the morning. He did an excellent job but for some difficulty finding his way out so he was over time for his recall.
Jean said she could hear him panting and going back and forth in one area for a while.

I was so pleased to hear him work so well and consistently that I felt as though we had qualified.

In the afternoon we had Gordon Heldebrant for judge. Pip did a good job and qualified!

The Scottish Terrier Club give very fancy rosettes for qualifying. I am thrilled to have one of them!

Some Senior Moments are well worth remembering

After warming up at the first day of "Maritime Madness", Pip went three for three to earn his CKC Senior ED Title with qualifying runs at the BTC ED Test in Sheffield, NB on July 27, 2008 and the ATA ED Tests in St-Croix, NS on August 02-03, 2008

Judges were Maria Sacco, Lou Herzog and Joe Mazur respectively.

Much more fun than showing!!!

Pip earned his first AKC Senior Earthdog leg at the the Greater Boston Earthdog Club Test in Gardner MA on May 11, 2008 (judge Maria Sacco).

There were three ED tests in three different locations on Mother's Day Weekend and Pip was one of four JJ dogs to have success.

Inching Forward

Pip took advantage of Higgs absence at the Club Canine Rive Sud show on Sunday, April 27, 2008 to sneak one more point towards his Canadian Championsjip under judge Carmen Haller.

Pip would also like to take this opportunity to thank second cousin Bonus for his good sportsdogship and wish him well in Oromocto when his coat should be stunning.

Folllowing Maritime Madness comes Massachusetts Success

Pip ably demonstrated that his New Brunswick ED performance was no fluke by earning his AKC Junior Earthdog title with two qualifying runs at the Greater Boston Earthdog Club Tests in Gardner, MA on August 10-11, 2007 (Judges Joe Mazur and Lou Herzog)

Maritime Madness Success

Pip became one of three Border boys to earn a two point win at the Fredericton KC shows in Sheffield, NB. Pip's win came on July 27, 2007 under judge Jose Vidal Montero.

Pip then went on to prove that "handsome is as handsome does" by earning his Canadian Junior Earthdog title with qualifying runs on July 28-29, 2007 (judges Duane Pulford and Trudy Kawami)

A Good Beginning

Jenny Chambers (Pip's co-breeder with Donna moore-Lavoie) made the trek from Stowe to Ste-Madeleine to Brockville to see Pip make his Canadian show ring debut at the Thousand Island Kennel Club Show on August 20, 2006 under judge Ray Smith.
Pip made the trip worthwhile. Though his ring skills are far from polished (my fault not his), he managed to take Winners Male from the Junior Puppy Class over two adult males to earn his first two points.
