The two Anna's, with support from the Atlantic Terrier Association (ATA), put on a great CKC Earthdog Seminar and Schooling Session on September 05, 2004 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The weather was picture perfect, the site excellent and the turnout enthusiastic.
There is definitely a promising future for earthdog events in the Maritimes.
This translates to a not-to-be-missed future vacation opportunity for many of the JJ supporters.

Many of us have faced the age old challenge of persuading a BT that "recycling", commendable concept as it is, should not be taken to extreme lengths - or excrement lengths,
I am not sure that Deenie's approach will be effective in dissuading Bria, but at least it is imaginative!!

Karen, Sensei and Star made the long trip to the North American Working Terrier Classic in Kentucky (September 25, 2004) but it sure sounds like they had fun. The classic is a combination of events that include conformation, agility, lure coursing, racing, obedience and various working tests In Karen's words:
We started with Sensei in Agility. We took the 5 point deduction and did it on lead (sorta, since Sensei is a lot faster than I am) since he has never seen agility equipment. It was a big entry of 86 dogs and Sensei took 3rd place in novice dogs over 12.5"! Going to have to sign that boy up for agility class:):) and most likely a cardio class for me:):) Star does not like agility so we moved on to the top gun lure coursing. Both of them came in with 10.54 & 10.76 times and had a great time. Star stopped in the middle of the first run and started to take the fence down because the barn hunt was going on behind it. He knew where the rats were. After the $2 special for lunch we went in to obedience. Sensei took a 2nd in pre-novice, again a very large class. Star took a 1st in open and actually paid me some attention:):) In confirmation Sensei took 1st in open dark bodied dogs over 12.5 and then reserve to the bred-by dog who was also a border. Next was the barn hunt where both of my boys tried to run off with the tubes. Rhys was more reserved in his hunt but I was able to guess which rat tube he marked (didn't want to get fired by Judy) LOL. Sensei took 3rd in the barn hunt, again a very large entry. Off to the go to ground and super go to ground and I think they both got 4th. We got so many ribbons all at once! The best of course was the Versatility award at the end. Our boy Sensei took 3rd place!!!! Carol Mock said 3 times "he did that without racing!" I guess the JRT's get lots of versatility points from the racing events. Not bad for a 17month old boy! It is a long drive but the day was worth it:)

Although it
appears that Gizmo and Gremlin are watching the hazy sun, they are actually waiting for
Beth to return to the campsite. The picture on the left was taken on July 1, 2004 after a visit to White Horse.
The haze is caused by the forest fires that were burning in BC and Alaska at that time.
