2012 Border Terrier Canada National Specialty Success

Molly made up for missing the BTCA National Specialty by going Best Veteran in Sweeps at the BTC Specialty under working breeder judge, Jo Ann Frier Murza on July 24th, 2012

Phew...

After warming up in Maine, Molly headed off on the Green mountain Circuit determined to lay the ghost of the "lost major" to rest. Success came in the form of a two-point win under Alice Watkins at the Lakes Region Kennle Club show on July 12, 2007 and a four-point major under Dorothy MacDonald at the Green Mountain Dog Club show on July 15, 2007.

This past weekend, [Penobscot Valley KC shows in Cumberland, ME on June 23/24, 2007 - judges Richard Cashoudian and Harry Smith] Molly picked up 2 singles to get off to a good "restart" on her AKC championship [two "oh so precious" points]. Molly got Winners Bitch both days over one other NICE girl each day, though the competition was different on Sat & Sun. She also got BoW, and though she doesn't care much about the ribbons she WAS delighted at Pam's recommendation that she have extra food for supper on Sat night and Sun morning, and she had a blast taking over Higgs' house and yard again.

A Major "Snafu"

Molly went winners bitch for a five point major under Dr. John Reeves-Newson at the Glens Falls Kennel Club show in Queensbury New York on Feb 04, 2007.
Unfortunately, Molly's grace period for showing in the US on her Canadian Registration had expired.
A tough reminder that rules change and it is our responsibility to check and re-check.
They have taken away her points but they can never take away her win.

Making the most of Maritime Madness

The original "quick change artist", in two days Molly managed a Group 2nd in the conformation ring (September 10, 2005) and the first leg on her CKC Junior Earthdog Title (the latter under respected AWTA/AKC/CKC judge Teddy Moritz at the ECDC CKC Earthdog Test in Pictou County, Nova Scotia on September 11, 2005 )

First in Line

Molly was quick to use her very pretty head and take advantage of Colin's lack of enthusiasm for showing (he had finished the day before and probably couldn't see "the point" - pun intended) at the Fredericton Kennel Club Show on July 31, 2005.
After careful consideration, Judge "Butch" MacDonald gave Molly the "nod" for Best of Breed then thrilled us all by putting her up for the Group - giving Borders a "clean sweep" of the Terrier Group for the three day show!

Icing on the Cake

While others were wrapping up Specialty fun and making their marks in agility, flyball, etc, Ms Molly, Winnie Whippet & I went to some local outdoor shows.
  On Sunday morning, shortly after 8am (before having any time to get blasé), Ms. Molly took a Group 3 under P. Machen!  Woo hoo!  In the afternoon, we did the Temperament Test and Molly passed with flying colours.  The cuteness highlight was that she politely sat to be petted by the "friendly stranger" and was about to roll over for a belly-rub as we left for the next station; the firey highlight was that she pointed at, growled and barked, and tried to chase the "threatening stranger."  She also added at least a half dozen people to her fan club.  Is it obvious how I adore this little dog?  (There was no competition in Breed, and a strong Terrier Group, so Molly did not place on Saturday, but a Lakie took BIS in one show and an Airedale BPIS on Sunday - go Terriers!)

I'm delighted to announce that the delightful Ms. Molly (Ch. Falconbrook Jane Austen - Tripper x Copper pup) is now a Canadian Champion! Molly picked up another 3 Group 4ths - 1 point each - this past weekend at the cold, damp Chaleur, NB shows. That makes 1 "extra" point for insurance.
Judges were Harold Hutchinson, Mike MacBeth, and Robert Gilham.
Apparently, Molly tried to tip the scales in her favour by giving Mike MacBeth a kiss during that show, which was also an Atlantic Terrier Association Booster (supported entry).

Molly took her total to eight points by going Group 4th at the Amherst Shows in Nova Scotia on May 21 and 22, 2005 under judges Merlin Vandekinder [he gave Gremlin one of his final points] and Thora Brown.

Once again Molly was "competitionless" at the breed level at the Moncton show on May 8, 2005 but Group Judge Heather Logan gave her a Group 3rd and lots of compliments for one more point.

.....but we did get a certificate!
Last night, Molly passed the test to do hospital visitation with our local Obed Club - YAY! She was a bit dodgy on staying in a "down," (picture creeping up *almostbutnotquite* into a sit) but did willingly leave a handfull of tempting treats when I called her ot me. She was an absolute star around the wheelchair, walker & people pretending to be nursing home residents/patients.

Shedding the teenage "touch me nots"

Molly FINALLY remembered her manners and showed like a dream at the Moncton Kennel Club show on November 14, 2004. She was the only BT in Conformation, so no point in Breed but she earned one for her Group 3rd (judge Roger Hartinger)
YIPEE! That makes 5 points - half way there .............
Of course, Borders do it their way and Molly was no exception - the Golden win was the pinnacle of a weekend during which Molly came in season the morning of the show???
Took a flying leap into the manure tank at a dairy farm the night before?
After that, she dug through snow to find "treats" in the field, then unsuccessfully tried to "play" with the barn cats.
Big weekend for the little girl........
(Back story - Molly picked up 4 points her first weekend out in October 2003, but since then has been pulling all sorts of antics in the ring - but good things are worth waiting for and Melony's patience and persistence have paid off.)
